Tristam Lass, Difference Engine CD
This spare, intimate acoustic recording by Tristam Lass suggested a design scheme which laid bare the style and personality of the artist. I gave the artist-supplied photo a golden sheen to add a touch of mystery. For the back cover and interior panel, I took Tris' hand-written track and album notes and photographed them in stark, yellow light on a wooden table to reinforce the personal, workshop quality of the project. For the CD label and tray, I used an old diagram of an actual difference engine, so that opening the jewel case is like opening a mechanism.
